During my time at TEA, I supported the Office of School Programs in producing many one-page digital guides to communicate timely, critical information to the field and to help districts and teachers implement technology, provide effective instructional materials and methods, and meet regulatory requirements.
The content development process for these guides involved an extensive discovery phase, including interviews with various subject matter experts across the agency to gain deeper knowledge so I could effectively communicate complex requirements, rules, guidance, and statutes in plain language.
As the team’s content strategist, I work closely with program leaders to examine and analyze audience needs and communication channels; develop effective messaging; write and edit copy; and conduct accessibility reviews to ensure Section 508 compliance before documents were posted or shared electronically (the preferred method for most Texas districts).
